Facelift Healing Time
It is always amazing to open a magazine and see a celebrity that suddenly has a much younger looking face. Yes, they have had a facelift. This is a popular procedure, which raises the issue of facelift healing time.
Facelift Healing Time
One of the most popular plastic surgeries being performed today is the facelift. A facelift is a cosmetic procedure that is used by surgeons to tighten up the underlying tissues of the face to make it appear smoother and more youthful. Facelifts have become very common among stars and the general population as society ages and wants to return to a look of youth. One of the most common questions asked about this procedure is about facelift healing time.
Facelift healing time depends on many different variables, so it's impossible to say for certain how long the recovery time will be for your specific case. That being said, however, there are some general parameters. Your first step to healing is coming out of your surgery in the recovery room. You will “come out” of the anesthesia that you were given for your surgery, and become aware of bandages on your face. There might also be drains inserted in your skin to get rid of any fluid accumulation. You will feel discomfort, but that will be treated with pain medication.
The first few days of your facelift healing time will be spent resting. You should keep your head elevated with a few pillows so that you can minimize bruises or swelling. Maximum swelling will last three to five days. After that, you will be able to shower and wash your hair. Within five to ten days, any sutures will naturally dissolve or be removed from the incision area by your physician. You will also be able to do some light activity, but you will need to sleep with your head elevated at night.
By the tenth to fifteenth day, most of the worst bruising and swelling will have subsided. You will be able to resume all of your normal activities with the exception of heavy lifting or exercise. After a month or so, you should be able to start exercising again as the rest of the swelling, puffiness and any skin numbness you may have will go away. It may take several months to see the full effect of your facelift and for any side effects to completely fade.
Everyone's facelift healing time is different. You will want to consult with your plastic surgeon to get a specific outline of the facelift healing time for your situation and surgery.
